The Mountain Rise Community Policing Forum (CPF) in Pietermaritzburg has been nominated for the National Excellence Awards, to be held in Bloemfontein next week, in recognition of its crime-fighting efforts. “We are grateful for the support from everyone who assists us as we work to keep the community safe,” said Mountain Rise CPF chairperson Sham Govender. The awards will be held at the Rantlai Molemela Stadium on Monday, where Acting Minister of Police Firoz Cachalia, together with Deputy Ministers Dr Polly Boshielo and Cassel Mathale, and SAPS national commissioner General Fanie Masemola, will lead senior management and members of the service in commemorating excellence, dedication and service in policing.
In June, the Mountain Rise CPF was recognised at the Provincial Excellence Awards. They were also named CPF of the Year at the CPF, Youth Community Policing Desk (YCPD), and Visible Policing (Vispol) Appreciation Awards, held in Durban in October.
