Police have opened a murder case following the discovery of a woman’s body near the Cato Ridge fire station on Monday morning. The body of Zama Mzobe (33) was found on the side of the road at about 8.30am. According to police, Mzobe was allegedly in the company of her boyfriend at a local car wash until around 3am on Monday, where they were watching a soccer match.
The couple reportedly left together after the match to go home. She was found dead several hours later, prompting police to launch an investigation. uMgungundlovu District SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Sifiso Gwala confirmed that a 36-year-old man, known to the victim, has been arrested in connection with the incident. “We urge anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact their nearest police station,” he added.
