UPND Deputy Spokesperson Elvis Nkandu says the opposition should continue dreaming that they can beat President Hakainde Hichilema in the August polls. Nkandu says the fact that the ruling party lost the Chawama by-election does not mean that people will not vote for them in the August elections. Recently, Mpika PF MP Francis Kapyanga said the opposition under PF presidential aspirant Brian Mundubile would win the 2026 general elections with a big margin.

Reacting to that in an interview, Nkandu said dreaming was free, adding that if the opposition thought the Chawama by-election results were a litmus test, they were mistaken. “Dreams are very, very free. Let Kapyanga and those in his camp continue dreaming.
