Tourism targets before and after the holidays are the recent excitement of Mayor Xaba and other politicians. While the visitor numbers may be high, our family and friends regret going to the South Coast this year after about 10 years of holidaying there. Reports that the water and electricity issues were resolved are false.
We only received water for about 2 hours in the morning and afternoon. This was courtesy of the resort that has Jojo tanks on site. Pot holes are plentiful, but visible security in Margate, Uvongo and durban central was most welcome.
Durban must improve its lighting and many water leaks. Mayor Xaba must start with the work ethic of managers heading water, electricity and infrastructure. Managers must be monitored and performance managed.
