Rutendo NyeveAFTER seven gut-wrenching days, the body of a police officer who mysteriously vanished during a boat ride has finally surfaced at Bubi-Lupane Dam — but questions still linger.Constable Joseph Masvora (24) drowned last Sunday along with Brian Thulani Ngwenya (26), a recent university graduate, when a council-owned boat they were using for a leisure trip capsized. In a chilling twist:The men’s clothes were found neatly folded on the riverbank, sparking wild speculation. Locals and social media users have been left puzzled — why did they strip before boarding the boat? “The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that the body of Constable Joseph Masvora, who went missing after a boating accident at Bubi-Lupane Dam on Sunday last week, has been found,” said Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.He added: “The body was discovered yesterday morning floating on the dam.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Masvora family and assure the public that investigations into the incident are ongoing.”Ngwenya’s body was recovered earlier in the week and buried, leaving the community holding its breath as the search for Masvora dragged on.His body was finally discovered Sunday morning, one full week after the tragic incident. The scene was heart-wrenching as villagers and rescuers gathered at the dam’s edge.Lupane authorities released a heartfelt tribute, praising the unity shown during the exhausting search. “We would like to thank all the Stakeholders, Lupane Community, Mpofu Villagers, ZRP, ZRP Sub-Aqua Unit, JOC members, Cde P.

Sibanda and Team, Bishop T. Nyoni and all the Pastors, Chiefs and all the Traditional Leaders, Churches, Civil Protection Unit, ZETDC, BusinessCommunity, Women’s Centre, Councillors, World Vision, Take Me Out, Bubi Lupane Irrigation Scheme, and the Media Fraternity,” the statement read. “Their contributions and maximum support during this difficult period helped us stay strong from last Sunday to this Sunday when we lost two precious lives in the dam.”Masvora was a serving police officer.
