Liberty Coal has shared some exciting updates about Optimum Colliery’s future. In the headlines is the arrival of the new principal mining contractor, Liberty Mine Services (LMS). LMS has officially brought on board over 540 employees from the previous contractor and plans to expand into underground mining and dragline operations this year, creating an estimated 500 new jobs.
The Marion 8200 dragline had a facelift costing the company R400 million.
