Farai DauramanziEcho EditorThe Reformed Church in Zimbabwe’s Seke East branch has been applauded for embracing the country’s vision of using local resources to build its infrastructure in line with the nation’s Vision 2030 developmental agenda.Special Presidential Investment Advisor, Dr Paul Tungwarara commended the congregation in Chitungwiza, where he was guest of honour at the church’s fundraising event over the weekend. Also present at the event was Chief Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya, who is the patron of RCZ Seke East.Dr Tungwarara donated US$100 000 towards the construction of the church building, US$50 000 for a revolving empowerment fund for the youth, a borehole, and a car for the congregation’s resident pastor. In his address, he said it is pleasing to note that the church is moving along with President Mnangagwa’s mantra of “nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” by building the church using local resources.“The time has passed when churches used to go overseas to beg for funds to build churches; we are now building using our local funds.“President Mnangagwa is always saying ‘nyika inovakwa nevene vayo,’ and I am happy that the Reformed Church’s Seke East congregation has embraced that philosophy,” he said.Dr Tungwarara also launched an empowerment fund for the church, saying he was pleased to note that the church is playing its part in upholding moral values in society.“Besides the US$100 000 I have pledged for the church’s construction, as the person responsible for empowerment funds, I am extending US$50 000 towards the Presidential RCZ Seke East Empowerment Fund.“This fund is meant to empower the youth in this congregation so that we create millionaires from this church. President Mnangagwa wants our people to create wealth, so this fund will offer interest-free loans on a revolving basis,” he said. The resident pastor at Seke East congregation, Reverend Joseph Zindoga expressed gratitude to all well-wishers who have contributed to the construction of the 1 000-seater church.“We are very grateful to Dr Tungwarara for the generous contribution towards our project. We also want to thank other contributors, such as Minister Tino Machakaire, who came last time and did the roofing for us,” he said. The mobilisation committee leader at RCZ Seke East, Mr Tsungirirai Jeche thanked President Mnangagwa and his Government for ensuring freedom of worship in the country.“We are very thankful to His Excellency, President Dr E.D Mnangagwa, for his commitment to ensuring freedom of worship for all churches in Zimbabwe.

lf it were not for him, we would not be getting all this help in building the house of God,” said Mr Jeche.Share on FacebookPost on XFollow usSave
