Seventeen-year-old Gomolemo Mogodi’s matric year was a test of emotional endurance, discipline, and faith. She began the year on a high note, tying for second position in Term 1, a promising start that filled her with confidence. But the pressure intensified in Term 2.
“There were nerves of writing in the examination hall for the first time after a while,” she explained, adding that her performance dropped, leaving her devastated. Term 3 brought exhaustion from a demanding routine. “There were sleepless nights because of cross nights and fatigue from going to school seven days a week,” she said.
Despite this, Gomolemo pushed through and gradually improved her average, showing resilience and determination. Faith played a crucial role during the finals. “The day before the start of my final examination, I had a bad dream,” she said.
