FINANCE and National Planning Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane says government will not proceed with the one-year Extended Credit Facility under the IMF programme but will instead engage them on another successor programme. And Bank of Zambia Governor Dr Denny Kalyalya says having met objectives under the IMF Extended Credit Facility, priorities have changed as the country is now focusing more on growth and dealing with resilience in mining and energy. Recently the government through the Ministry of Finance and National Planning announced that Zambia had extended the IMF supported economic programme by one year, which started in August 2022 and was scheduled to end in October 2025.
