Sikhulekelani Moyo, Zimpapers Business HubTHE Ministry of Industry and Commerce, in partnership with the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), is hosting the Zimbabwe National Industrial Development Policy (ZNIDP 2) stakeholders consultative workshop in Bulawayo.The engagement brought together participants from Bulawayo and Matabeleland North provinces to deliberate on the formulation of ZNIDP 2 (2026–2030), as the Zimbabwe Industrial Growth Plan (ZIGP 2024–2025) nears its conclusion in December this year.The ZIGP is a transitional blueprint designed to bridge the gap between the Zimbabwe Industrial Development Plan (2019–2023), which ended last December, and the upcoming ZNIDP 2.In remarks delivered on his behalf by Bulawayo Provincial Director Mrs Mary Chingonzoh, Industry and Commerce Permanent Secretary Dr Thomas Utete Wushe said the Ministry was committed to working closely with both public and private sector stakeholders to ensure that ZNIDP 2 becomes a transformative and action-oriented policy.“ZNIDP 2 will be crucial in driving the industrialisation agenda, fostering value addition, and facilitating structural transformation aligned with the overarching goals of the National Development Strategy 2,” said Dr Utete Wushe.He said the policy will serve as a comprehensive framework to address challenges and unlock new frontiers of growth.Presenting on behalf of the steering committee, CZI chief economist Dr Cornelius Dube said the policy comes at a time the country’s manufacturing sector is showing signs of growth.CZI chief economist Dr Conerlious Dube“Though the growth might be slow, there is something happening in the sector,” said Dr Dube.
