Brandon Moyo, Zimpapers Sports HubTHE BOYS ARE BACK!Former Zimbabwe cricket captains Brendan Taylor and Graeme Cremer made explosive returns to the pitch in a dream debut for the Takashinga Patriots 1.Playing at Kwekwe Sports Club on Sunday, the two legends reminded fans why they once ruled the cricketing world. Taylor, 39, smashed 61 runs off just 66 balls, sending six cracking boundaries and a monster six sailing into the stands. The comeback king is now tipped to return to international duty this Thursday when Zimbabwe take on New Zealand in the second Test at Queens Sports Club.“It felt amazing to be back out there. I’ve missed this,” Taylor said after his first official match since serving a three and a half year ban that ended on July 26.While Taylor was lighting up the scoreboard, Cremer, 38, was causing chaos with the ball.

The leggie ripped through Queens Sports Club’s line-up, bagging 4 wickets for just 43 runs in 8 overs. The Bulawayo side folded for a measly 129 runs in 23.4 overs, handing Takashinga a massive 134-run win.Cremer, who last played competitive cricket in 2018, is also eyeing a national team comeback as Zimbabwe gears up to co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup.“I’ve kept myself fit and focused. This is just the beginning,” Cremer said with a grin.If this match is anything to go by, the golden oldies still have plenty of fire left in them and Zimbabwean cricket fans are here for it.— @brandon_malvinShare on FacebookPost on XFollow usSave
