This operation unfolded on Thursday after City of Johannesburgofficials targeted a notorious hijacked mansionlocated on the prestigious Grosvenor Road.
The grand residence, once a symbol of affluent living, is now reported to be home to over 70 families who live there unlawfully. Many of these families are paying rent to an alleged building hijacker. During the raid, law enforcement successfully apprehended a suspect believed to be at the centre of the hijacking operation, and a firearm along with live ammunition was confiscated from the scene.
These discoveries add a layer of severity to the ongoing issues surrounding illegal property dealings in the area. As part of the operation, illegal electricity and water connections were discovered and subsequently disconnected.
