The Zambia Institute of Mass Communication Educational Trust (ZAMCOM) has signed a partnership agreement with the Zambia Army under the Ministry of Defence aimed at strengthening capacity building and enhancing strategic communication within the defence sector. Under the agreement, eligible beneficiaries from the Zambia Army will receive some percent tuition scholarship on ZAMCOM programmes as part of efforts to support skills development in line with national security and development priorities. ZAMCOM Head of Public Relations and Marketing, Alice Schultz, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday.

She said the institution will also award annual tuition scholarships at Diploma level to two best-performing pupils from Army-aided schools who attain five best points in their Grade 12 GCE examinations, including Mathematics and English. “As a statutory body under the Ministry of Media and Information, ZAMCOM continues to play a critical role in strengthening Zambia’s media ecosystem by producing skilled, ethical, and development-oriented media professionals,” Schultz said. She explained that ZAMCOM’s training programmes were tailored to emerging national priorities such as information integrity, responsible media practices, strategic communication, and public awareness.

“The partnership with Zambia Army aligns with Zambia’s National Development Goals, particularly human capital development, good governance, and institutional strengthening,” she said. She stated that the collaboration recognized education as a key driver of national security, social cohesion, and informed citizen engagement. “By linking education, media, and national security, the partnership reinforces the role of knowledge and skills as drivers of socio-economic development and national resilience,” she said.
