I feel very much for Conor O’Hagan Ward’s loss of“swing” (The Witness, January 5). After all, we share the same “loss”, being the same age, having lived and loved, through the same (yes, say it, don’t be shy) hippie era, speaking the same “flowerful” language, Afrikaans like, and just like generally being kiff, man, kiff. If it’s any consolation, ol’ groovy baby, who patented the clarion call of “drill, baby brill”, will soon find himself far out from the maddening crowd.
(Pun intended). Watch this space. In the meanwhile, cry the beloved bell-bottoms, for 60 years after the sixties,“bottoms-up are ringing the bell”.
