A traffic police officer is in a critical condition after being knocked down by a vehicle while on duty in Merrivale on Tuesday night. Midlands EMS rescue medics and advanced life support crews were dispatched to the R617 Tumbleweed intersection at around 7:40pm. “On arrival, crews found the patient to have sustained serious injuries and to be in a critical condition.
Urgent Advanced Life Support treatment was initiated on scene, with specialised medical equipment used to stabilise the patient and manage their injuries,” Midlands EMS spokesperson Roland Robertson said. Once stabilised, the officer was carefully loaded into an ambulance and transported under medical supervision to a Level 1 trauma hospital for further treatment. Authorities were also on scene, which was secured to allow for further investigation into the incident.
