IFCB Nyasa Bullets immediate-past coach Peter Mponda is suing the club against the reasons and procedure for his dismissal, having failed to reach an amicable settlement. The People’s Team fired the coach on December 21 2025, but kept a tight lid on the reasons. His dismissal came a day after Bullets’ title bid came to a halt after being held to a goalless draw by Mighty Tigers.
In a brief interview, Mponda confirmed taking legal action against his former employers, but referred The Nation to his lawyer David Kenyenda for more details. Kanyenda, who is Mighty Wanderers FC director of football, confirmed the development in an interview yesterday, saying: “I have received instructions from Bullets and Flames genuine legend Mr Peter Mponda to represent him in respect of a labour dispute against his immediate-past employer FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC. “Our esteemed client is aggrieved with the reasons advanced and procedure adopted to terminate his employment relationship.
“In our professional estimation, both the reasons and procedure fall below the minimum standards prescribed by law. “As the parties have failed to reach an amicable negotiated settlement, litigation is the only viable option to find a durable solution to the matter.” On how much his client is claiming, Kanyenda said: “At the moment, our priority is to focus on establishing liability. Thereafter, we shall be in a position to determine the quantum of the compensation.

“My educated guess would put the value of claim in excess of K400 million because of the remainder of the contrct which is 24 months.” Bullets acting chief executive officer Albert Chigoga declined to comment yesterday. Mponda was hired as Bullets coach in January 2025 on a three-year contract after parting ways with Silver Strikers, whom he guided to the league title. In his debut season as head coach at Bullets, Mponda won the the Airtel Top 8 and guided the team to a second-place finish in the league.
