South Africa is rightly doing all it can (so we’re told) to normalise relations with the U.S. Soon after the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, there we were, calling for intervention by the United Nations. It would be fairly accurate to say that over 95% of the world is adopting a wait-and-see posture.

Would we not be better advised, given our plight, to follow suit and for now keep schtum? UN involvement will happen with or without us. Play it cool and keep a low profile is the route to go.
