Residents were left shocked after the body of a man stuffed inside a white sack, was discovered floating in the Henley Dam on Saturday afternoon. According to uMgungundlovu district SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Sifiso Gwala, the gruesome discovery was made by a community member at about 4 pm, who immediately alerted police. “When officers arrived at the scene, they found the body of a man inside a white sack,” Gwala said.
He said the man had sustained injuries to his forehead and right cheek, and that tattoos were observed on his body. A murder case has been opened at Plessislaer police station. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death and to establish whether the man was alive when his body was thrown into the dam.
“At this stage, no arrests have been made and investigations are continuing. We appeal to anyone who may have information that could assist in tracing the suspects to contact the police,” Gwala said. Police urged members of the public with information to report it at their nearest police station or via Crime Stop at 0860 010 111.
