During this year’s 16 Days of Activism Against Violence on Women and Children hosted under the theme Unite To End Digital Violence Against all Women and Girls, Dorcus Moemedi- Councilor for Monarch Central in the Francistown West constituency who was elected in the 2024 general elections relived her cyber bullying story. In an interview, Moemedi revealed that she is a seasoned campaign manager who has always worked behind the scenes, but after the realization that women were underrepresented in political office she was motivated to run for a council seat.

She further recalls that after a number of misunderstandings at her then political home, Moemedi realisedthat she did not have any support from her party’s campaign team. When she announced her candidature, online attacks against her started.
