Rescue teams today continued the searchfor three missing people at Pennington main beach on the south coast of KZN. As reported bySouth Coast Heraldearlier today, the ongoing search extended along the coastline and out to sea. National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesman Craig Lambinon said that during the search yesterday, it was determined that there are three men, all believed to be aged 21, still missing.

Then, during the search yesterday, an 18-year-old woman was found dead at Bazley Beach. It was determined by police that the woman was among those who had gone missing off Pennington main beach. According to the NSRI, the group got into distress in the surf zone near the tidal pool at Pennington beach.

According toThe Witness, in a separate incident in Ballito, IPSS Search and Rescue teams and KwaDukuza lifeguards were searching the coastline for a man who went missing while swimming at Thompson’s Bay Beach yesterday morning. Search crews were using jet skis and boats to locate the missing swimmer. “Conditions are not ideal, as the wind has picked up, which may hamper search efforts as the day progresses,” Meyrick said at the time of publishing.
