WALKING into some of the newly built schools in Chirundu, one thing caught my eye immediately, clean, tiled ablution blocks with flushable toilets and running water. Overhead water tanks glistened in the sun as solar-powered pumps hummed quietly, powering the taps, a striking sight for pupils and teachers who once had to use pit latrines. What used to be dark, cramped and unsafe toilets have been replaced by well-planned, functional ablution blocks with handwashing stations outside, making the school environment safer and more comfortable.
A visit to Namabuyu Community School, Kayuni Primary School, Shabulembu Community School and many others confirmed the same: each institution now has modern ablution blocks with running water, showing a consistent standard across the district and… Do you agree that child defilers should be castrated?
