The accident occurred between Warden and Villiers at theheight of the festive season. A small motor vehicle struck a truck in a head-on collision, with the time of the accident unclear. Paramedics declared three dead at the scene, while the truck driver was being treated for minor injuries before being taken to the nearest hospital.
The accident caused the highway to be closed in both directions for several hours as emergency workers attended to the situation. Messages of condolences came in for the Pretoria couple identified as Zane and Claryke Hilton. Laerskool Magalieskruin said on Facebook: “Our deepest condolences and sympathy to the family and friends of Zane & Claryke Hilton on their sudden passing.
