A youngster from Wentworth is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot and injured in a suspected gang-related incident on Christmas Day. According toSouthlands Sun, the incident occurred in Woodville Road in Wentworth. Police sources said the 17-year-old victim was walking along the road when unknown gunmen opened fire on him.
He managed to flee, sustaining a gunshot wound to the face and arm. The victim was transported to Wentworth Hospital, where he is reported to be in a stable condition. “The police recovered numerous spent pistol cartridges on the scene and investigations are underway,” a source said.
Prior to the shooting, Durban Metro Police and members of the Wentworth Police Station conducted a joint operation in Wentworth where three illegal structures were demolished. The suspects are still at large. Police in Wentworth are investigating a case of attempted murder.
