THE Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) has officially declared its intention to bid for the hosting rights of the 2026 African Elite Boxing Championships, in a move aimed at bringing the continent’s premier boxing tournament back to Zambian soil for the second time in history. ZBF president Boniface Sokoni confirmed that the proposed bid will be anchored in the capital, Lusaka, which he believes has the infrastructure and public interest required to successfully stage a championship of such magnitude. Sokoni expressed strong confidence that the bid would receive full Government backing, pointing to Zambia’s recent breakthrough performances on the global boxing stage as a compelling case for national support.
