Three suspects may have approached Warrick Stock, also known as DJ Warras, as he was shot in Johannesburg a few days ago. This is according to police, who are investigating his murder amid beliefs that in the run-up to his killing Stock took out a protection order relating to a hijacked building. Stock was murdered in Johannesburg’s central business district on Tuesday, 16 December 2025.
Daily Maverick reported that he had a background in the entertainment industry and was also involved in private security. Police announcedthat on the same day Stock was killed, a security company owner based in Polokwane was murdered. Though unrelated that also appeared to be a hit – with the murdered man’s “cellular phones and a laptop” found in his vehicle after he was shot.
It was not immediately clear why Stock was targeted, but theories are emerging. News24 reportedon Wednesday that an insider close to the police investigation said that Stock had obtained a protection order in November on behalf of himself, his employees and his company, Imperium Ops International. The protection order was allegedly related to a hijacked building where Stock was involved with security. The insider, according to the News24 report, said Stock may have been killed in a case of mistaken identity, as the shooters may have thought he was the owner of the building.
