POLICE in Lusaka have apprehended Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Kasonde Mwenda and two others for allegedly engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. The incident happened, Friday, around 14:40 hours near the Parliament Building in Lusaka. Mwenda was apprehended by the Zambia Police as he attempted to protest against the ongoing proposed Constitution amendment at Parliament.

In a statement, Lusaka Province Commanding Officer Lemekani Chirwa said the trio remained in custody, awaiting formal charges and a court appearance. “Police in Lusaka Province have apprehended three people, namely Kasonde Mwenda, Edina Ngoma and Mbale Suzyo, all from Lusaka, for Conduct Likely to Cause a Breach of the Peace.
