At least six people remain trapped after a four-storey temple collapsed in Redcliffe, Durban, on Friday. According to eNCA, one person who had been trapped under the rubble managed to make it out alive, though their condition is not yet known. Emergency personnel are still arriving at the scene, with all available medical and rescue services in the area being called to assist.

The KZN Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) said the Provincial Disaster Management Centre has confirmed that emergency response teams have been deployed to the scene of a structural collapse in Redcliffe, situated north of Durban. Preliminary reports indicate that a four-storey building under construction has collapsed, entrapping several workers who were on site at the time of the incident. The situation remains active and highly sensitive, with emergency medical personnel attending to the injured while specialised search and rescue teams work tirelessly to reach those who are still trapped beneath the debris.

Cogta said all relevant disaster management protocols have been activated, and multiple agencies, including emergency medical services, fire and rescue units, and law enforcement, are on site to ensure a coordinated response.
