THE Lusaka High Court has dismissed the Director of Public Prosecutions’ appeal challenging the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court’s decision to acquit acting PF president Given Lubinda of four counts of possessing property suspected to be proceeds of crime. In May 2024, the DPP appealed to the High Court against the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court’s decision to acquit Lubinda. In a notice of appeal, DPP Gilbert Phiri argued that the Magistrates’ Court, in acquitting Lubinda of corruption charges, had erred in law when it found that the monies in his dollar account were not proceeds of crime.
