SOME members of the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) are requesting the association’s council to convene an urgent Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). This meeting is to discuss, among other things, whether it is proper for the LAZ president, Lungisani Zulu, to continue issuing statements on the constitutional amendments process without wide consultation of the LAZ membership. According to the petition dated December 8, the meeting would also discuss LAZ’s continued association with the OASIS Forum, “which has openly engaged in serious partisan politics”.
