A cash-in-transit robbery on the M35 in Durban South left one security guard injured on Friday morning after suspects blew up an armoured money van. ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics were dispatched just after 11 am following multiple reports of a robbery and explosion on the route, just before KwaMakutha. “Paramedics arrived to find the cash-in-transit vehicle had been blown up by multiple suspects,” said Jamieson.

Police cordoned off the area shortly after the attack, closing the roadway to traffic to allow for forensic teams and investigators to work at the scene. Jamieson said the events leading up to the explosion remain unclear, and SAPS has launched a full investigation.
