Vubwi District Council Secretary, Moses Mutyoka, is pleased with the voter registration turnout in Vubwi Constituency. Professor Mutyoka revealed that the district exceeded the voter registration target set by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) by a significant margin.ā€œMaybe some of you may not be fully aware that our target for ECZ was 1,400 people to be registered for new registration, but I can tell you that we have over-performed,ā€ he noted. The Council Secretary said this during the final review meeting of this year’s mass voter registration exercise held on 3rd December, 2025.He noted that the district recorded close to two thousand newly registered voters against a set target of 1,400.Aside from the collaborative efforts exhibited by the stakeholders, Prof Mutyoka attributed the success to massive voter education and sensitisation programmes.ā€œI was on the ground once in a while, I didn’t hear much of the misconducts, I didn’t hear much of any other negative things that could come through,ā€ he said. He, however, noted that the exercise was not void of tensions between stakeholders but, not enough to spark upheavals.Meanwhile, in an interview with the media, some members of the public hailed government for extending the exercise, noting that the farming season was a difficult time for the exercise although they found time to register.A resident, Sarah Banda, who is one of the new registered voters, expressed excitement at having an opportunity to vote next year.
