The sports gala brought together youths and young women from the constituency, with soccer and netball being the main activities of the day. “We’re following what President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been preaching in the country for young people to stay away from drugs and substance abuse, so we have to introduce sports and projects so that youths have something to do.” Ms Caroline Makwasha, a young woman from Tenda Village in Chihota, praised the mayor for rallying youths together through sports and developmental projects. Tenda Village Netball Team emerged victorious in the tournament, walking away with a trophy, medals, netballs, cash, and 2,000 chicks for poultry projects.
In the football category, Mbuya Emma Constituency won the men’s division, taking home a big trophy, soccer balls, medals, and cash. Flackson Mavhura of Mbuya Emma commended the organisers and called for more activities that bring youths together to combat drug abuse and teenage pregnancy.Every team that participated in the Sports Gala received soccer balls, netballs, and cash as a form of motivation. The event was also attended by representatives from the Rufaro Zonde Gwanzura Foundation, who played a key role in ensuring the event’s success
