A two-month-old baby was stolen yesterday, Saturday 14 November 2025, at the corner of Robert Mugabe Way and 3rd Street, close to Kudzanai Bus Terminus in Gweru. Police confirmed they have launched an active search for both the baby and the female suspect involved.
According to the family, the infant was taken after the mother briefly left the baby in the care of her sister while she stepped a few metres away to buy bananas. A woman wearing a dotted blue dress allegedly approached, grabbed the baby, and disappeared, leaving only the blankets behind.
Eyewitnesses told the family they saw the woman walking quickly toward the bus terminus area, but no further details were captured. “It all happened in a very short space of time,” a relative said. “We are asking anyone who saw what happened to come forward.”.
Authorities are appealing to members of the public for assistance. Anyone with information is urged to visit the nearest police station or contact the parents directly on +263711407963.
