Sports / Soccer3.6km stretch of Bulawayo-Victoria Falls road openedby Staff reporter2 hrs ago |102ViewsThe Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development on Thursday officially opened a newly completed 3.6-kilometre section of the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Highway, marking another milestone in the ongoing national road rehabilitation programme. The new stretch runs from the Hwange Police Station towards Victoria Falls and forms part of the larger 51km segment allocated to contractor Bitumen.

It complements a previously completed 10km section within Hwange, significantly easing congestion and improving travel times for motorists using the busy corridor. An official from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development said the Government was pleased with the progress made so far and expressed confidence that work would continue steadily despite the onset of the rainy season.”By the time the rainy season finishes, we hope the contractors will have completed another 10km of road construction,” the official said. The Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Highway is one of Zimbabwe’s most strategic routes, linking the country’s second-largest city to the major tourism hub of Victoria Falls and facilitating regional trade and tourism.Local traditional leaders, including Chief Hwange and Chief Nekatambe, attended the official opening ceremony.
