News / NationalIMF says Zimbabwe’s 2025 rebound stronger than expectedby Staff reporter1 hr ago |73ViewsZimbabwe’s economy is rebounding more strongly than anticipated in 2025, buoyed by a recovery in agriculture, steady mining output, and easing inflation under a stable exchange rate, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said yesterday. An IMF staff team led by Wojciech Maliszewski visited Harare from October 29 to November 5 for consultations with the Government and key stakeholders as part of the Fund’s ongoing engagement with Zimbabwe.”Zimbabwe’s economic recovery in 2025 is stronger than previously anticipated, given the rebound in agriculture and solid performances in mining, while inflation has continued to significantly ease, supported by a stable foreign exchange rate,” said Maliszewski in a statement issued at the end of the mission.”The economy is expected to maintain strong momentum in 2026.”Discussions during the visit centred on strengthening fiscal discipline and ensuring that the 2026 national budget aligns expenditure with revenues and sustainable, non-inflationary financing.

The IMF urged authorities to avoid accumulating arrears and to adopt credible revenue projections backed by concrete tax policy and administrative reforms.”In the context of the requested Staff Monitored Programme, IMF staff stand ready to resume discussions upon progress toward addressing key policy issues highlighted in the Article IV consultations,” Maliszewski said. The IMF also emphasised the importance of continued macroeconomic stability, including maintaining a predictable policy environment to build investor confidence and sustain growth. The mission met with Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Mthuli Ncube, Reserve Bank Governor John Mushayavanhu, and other senior officials from across Government. In its concluding remarks, the IMF praised the Zimbabwean authorities for their “warm hospitality, open dialogue, and excellent cooperation” throughout the visit. The latest assessment reflects growing international recognition of Zimbabwe’s ongoing economic reforms, which have seen price stability, foreign currency gains, and expanding productive sectors drive a stronger-than-expected post-pandemic recovery.Source – zimliveMore on:#IMF,#Zimbabwe,#EconomyJoin the discussionLoading comments…Enable JavaScript to view comments.Live UpdatesGet the Daily DigestSubscribeSubscribe to the Daily DigestMust ReadMohadi’s son evicts 21 families2 hrs ago |226 ViewsZimbabwean man accused of murder in UK2 hrs ago |245 ViewsMutapa injects US$40m to revive struggling parastatals2 hrs ago |119 ViewsSA man sentenced for attempting to smuggle stolen Toyota Hilux to Zimbabwe2 hrs ago |129 ViewsMan disarms soldier at State House while demanding to see Mnangagwa2 hrs ago |323 ViewsZiG to strengthen further2 hrs ago |115 ViewsProphet Magaya spends 42nd birthday behind bars2 hrs ago |194 ViewsFM, TV transmission expansion rollout to intensify2 hrs ago |38 ViewsEazzyPay launches all-in-one payment platform2 hrs ago |47 ViewsHarare gets US$1m for health sector upgrade2 hrs ago |32 ViewsCecil John Rhodes Estates Act2 hrs ago |129 ViewsAI and Cybersecurity skills for civil servants2 hrs ago |34 ViewsFake colleges prey on hope2 hrs ago |70 ViewsZimbabwe Prisons repurposes red prison uniforms2 hrs ago |117 Views92% of laws now aligned with Constitution2 hrs ago |33 ViewsMagaya’s bodyguard in court over fraudulent car deal2 hrs ago |102 ViewsUZ guards accused of assaulting delivery man2 hrs ago |53 ViewsMnangagwa returns from Doha Summit2 hrs ago |64 ViewsBulawayo water samples show 98.8% free of faecal contamination, Council reports4 hrs ago |115 ViewsInsiza RDC Bans Burials Without Council Approval Under New Cemetery By-Laws4 hrs ago |124 ViewsBulawayo Adopts Boreholes and Water Kiosks to Ease Ongoing Crisis4 hrs ago |140 ViewsFreedom Alliance Joins Forces to Oppose ZANU-PF’s 2030 Term Extension Agenda5 hrs ago |306 ViewsBulawayo’s Water Crisis Driving Away Investors and Residents, Council Report Warns5 hrs ago |107 ViewsFigtree man jailed after bar fight over music5 hrs ago |164 ViewsEureka Mine Accused of Bribing Chief and MP Amid Allegations of Community Abuse5 hrs ago |138 ViewsPolice arrest man seen assaulting woman in viral video5 hrs ago |668 ViewsZimbabwe’s foreign reserves near US$1 billion13 hrs ago |341 ViewsSuspected Zanu-PF youths disrupt MDC presser14 hrs ago |328 ViewsHarare businessman loses US$5 000 to hookers15 hrs ago |635 ViewsToday’s Most ReadPolice arrest man seen assaulting woman in viral video5 hrs ago |668 ViewsMajor scandal erupts over Mnangagwa’s alleged 2030 term extension plot20 hrs ago |1457 ViewsProphet Magaya followers, business in disarray20 hrs ago |1338 ViewsChiwenga’s Inauguration Trip to Tanzania Exposed His Confusion*19 hrs ago |1126 ViewsHarare businessman loses US$5 000 to hookers15 hrs ago |635 Views5 perish in kombi, haulage truck crash15 hrs ago |572 ViewsMan disarms soldier at State House while demanding to see Mnangagwa2 hrs ago |323 ViewsFreedom Alliance Joins Forces to Oppose ZANU-PF’s 2030 Term Extension Agenda5 hrs ago |306 ViewsMan in court for harassing brother’s girlfriend15 hrs ago |388 ViewsZimbabwean man accused of murder in UK2 hrs ago |245 ViewsRead All Our Latest News
