By A Correspondent| Vice President, Retired General Constantino Chiwenga, has celebrated the forfeiture order granted by the Gauteng High Court in South Africa against his ex-wife Marry Mubaiwa.

The order, issued on July 28, 2025, pertains to funds and assets acquired through unlawful means, which are now set to be forfeited to the State of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

In a press statement issued by Lewis Uriri, Of Counsel, and instructed by Machingura Legal Practitioners, Chiwenga commended the collaborative efforts between the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe and its South African counterparts.

The statement highlighted that the Gauteng High Court’s ruling “affirms the principle that proceeds of crime have no sanctuary within the region.”

The Vice President’s office emphasized that the forfeiture is consistent with the global stance against illicit financial flows and the recovery of assets acquired unlawfully.

Furthermore, the statement clarified that upon becoming aware of the unlawful activities in question, Vice President Chiwenga promptly reported the matter and has since rendered his full cooperation to the National Prosecuting Authority.

His actions, the statement asserted, were motivated solely by the national interest and in furtherance of justice and accountability.

The Honourable Vice President, the statement concluded, remains steadfast in his commitment to upholding the rule of law and supporting institutions tasked with safeguarding the integrity of the Republic.
