NewsPoliticsStaff ReporterThe Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) President Douglas Mwonzora yesterday escaped an attack by alleged ZANU-PF and state security agents in Bulawayo, according to a statement by the party.Mwonzora briefly stopped at the MDC Bulawayo Provincial office to address members of the media and party structures on the ZANU-PF proposed 2030 agenda en route to court proceedings of one of his clients.“Soon after the members of the Press left, members of the Police mainly from PISI and CID and youths wearing ZANU-PF regalia entered the office from the back door, numbering about 20, armed with guns and knives and started dismissing people as they advanced towards the MDC leader threateningly.They were chanting 2030 inobudirira chete (2030 will succeed),” read the statement.Members of Mwonzora’s security whisked him away amid the stampede.“The thugs could not advance anymore to the front as members of the party blocked their advance torwards the front,” the statement continued.This comes after the ruling party endorsed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term extension from 2028 to 2030, a move labeled by opposition as unlawful.Leave a ReplyCancel reply
