Walter NyamukondiwaMashonaland West Bureau ChiefTourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi, today launched the domestic tourism festive season campaign in Kariba, signifying the start of the season.Minister Rwodzi encouraged Zimbabweans to visit the country’s prime tourist destinations and their relatives during the festive season.“We declare the start of the festive season, where we are saying people should be merry and those who imbibe should not travel.
They should sleep in the locality for their safety and support of domestic tourism,” said Minister Rwodzi.She congratulated Zimbabwe and President Mnangagwa for steering the country towards international acclaim from the Forbes Magazine after the country was voted the best tourism destination in the world in 2025.The domestic tourism campaign is running under the theme: “Zimbabwe, Our Heritage/Nhaka Yedu/Ilifa Lethu”.The day started with a 2km procession from Kariba Town Centre to Lake Harvest Leisure Centre, which the minister and other delegates participated in.Tourism and Hospitality Industry Permanent Secretary Mr Takaruza Munyanyiwa, said domestic tourism is a show of pride in the country’s heritage, presenting opportunities for growth.In her welcome remarks delivered by the secretary in her office, Mr Josphat Jaji, Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Marian Chombo said domestic tourism presented an opportunity for people to reconnect with relatives.Artist Andy Muridzo is expected to entertain delegates and the Kariba community that has gathered at Lake Harvest Leisure Centre.Leave a ReplyCancel reply
