Former EPL manager Chris Hughton eyes Warriors top job

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports EditorTHE Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has received over 300 applications for the vacant Warriors head coach role, including high-profile names such as former Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City manager Chris Hughton.The online application portal closed on Thursday, drawing interest from both local and international coaches.Hughton, 66, brings a wealth of experience from the English Premier League, having managed Tottenham, Newcastle United, and Norwich City, as well as continental experience, including a coaching stint with Ghana two years ago.The next Warriors coach is expected to be named next week with ZIFA racing against time as the senior national team is expected to play Algeria and Qatar during the upcoming FIFA international break this November.Zimbabwe play Algeria in Saudi Arabia on November 13 before taking on Qatar four days later in their own background.The two international friendlies are part of preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations set for December.
