Ivan ZhakataHerald CorrespondentTHE State of Palestine has condemned Israel’s latest military assault on the Gaza Strip and described it as a ruthless strike that has left more than 100 civilians dead, including dozens of women and children. In a statement, Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Dr Tamer Almassri said the attacks were a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement established earlier this month and an indication that Israel is hell-bent on warmongering, sustaining itself at the expense of Palestinian blood.“The State of Palestine vehemently condemns the ruthless military strike unleashed by Israel in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the senseless slaughter of over 104 innocent civilians, including 46 children and 40 women,” he said.“This egregious act of aggression is a blatant violation of international law and a shocking display of disregard for human life.”He said the latest assaults had pushed the death toll in Gaza to more than 68 000 people since the beginning of Israel’s military campaign in October 2023 and called it a humanitarian catastrophe that demands immediate international intervention.“The continued bloodshed in Gaza is a grim reminder of the human cost of Israel’s relentless pursuit of violence,” Ambassador Almassri said.“The international community cannot remain silent in the face of such unmitigated brutality.

Collective action must be taken to hold Israel accountable for its crimes.”The Palestinian envoy accused Israel of deliberately undermining peace efforts through repeated violations of truce agreements.“The fact that Israel has consistently disregarded ceasefire agreements and shown a callous disregard for human life suggests that its ultimate goal is not peace, but the subjugation and humiliation of the Palestinian people,” he said.Ambassador Almassri said the State of Palestine would continue to pursue all diplomatic and legal measures to protect its people and seek justice for victims of the conflict.“We will utilise every available diplomatic and legal avenue to ensure justice for the victims and to end this sustained campaign of aggression.

The bloodshed must stop now,” he said.Leave a ReplyCancel reply
