Mashonaland East BureauMUTOKO district in Mashonaland East province has been recognised as an emerging tourism and hospitality district that is earmarked to become a tourist destination of choice, not only in Zimbabwe but in the SADC region.Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Itayi Ndudzo said this while officially commissioning Gohori Resort Centre in Mutoko.“Today, we gather with hearts full of hope and anticipation as we celebrate a pivotal moment in the vibrant tapestry of Mutoko district,” he said.“This facility serves as a catalyst for economic growth, opening doors for local entrepreneurs and providing a platform for our artisans and creators to showcase their talents.

Several ministries and departments hold their important conferences and meetings.”Minister Ndudzo said the investment and collaboration has laid the groundwork for a flourishing tourism sector that promises to benefit all people in the remaining eight districts of Mashonaland East.“Moreover, the Gohori Resort Centre aligns seamlessly with the Second Republic’s broader vision of sustainable development.

As we embrace the potential of tourism, we must also commit to preserving the natural beauty that surrounds us.”Mr Bernard Kasekete, the owner of Gohori Resort Centre, thanked the Government for the support in establishing the resort.He said Mutoko will always be the centre of tourism and hospitality in Mashonaland East.“I am humbled by the support I received from the day I started this project. As the President is always saying, ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’, this is what he meant. Mutoko will be built and transformed by the Mutoko people.
