News / NationalZRP disciplines cops over viral videoby Staff reporter1 hr ago |238ViewsThe Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says it has taken swift disciplinary action against three police officers implicated in a viral video showing an altercation with motorists during a traffic enforcement operation in Budiriro, Harare. In a statement released Thursday, the police said it does not condone misconduct by its members and confirmed that appropriate disciplinary measures had been imposed on the officers with immediate effect. The ZRP, however, did not disclose the exact nature of the sanctions. The widely circulated video, which has been trending across social media platforms, captures a heated confrontation between motorists and police officers during a routine traffic stop.
The footage has ignited public debate on police behaviour, accountability, and relations with the public on Zimbabwe’s roads. In its statement, the ZRP appealed for restraint and mutual respect during law enforcement encounters, urging both officers and members of the public to act responsibly.”The Police urges motorists to be law-abiding citizens and avoid using obscene or vulgar words to police officers, especially women on effecting arrests,” the statement read. The incident comes at a time when the ZRP is under increasing public scrutiny over the conduct of some officers at roadblocks, with citizens and civic groups calling for reforms to enhance professionalism and transparency within the force.Police authorities said internal disciplinary systems are being reinforced to ensure officers uphold the highest standards of integrity and public service while carrying out their duties. The ZRP reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline within its ranks and restoring public confidence in law enforcement.Source – onlineMore on:#ZRP,#Police,#DisciplineJoin the discussionLoading comments…Enable JavaScript to view comments.Live UpdatesGet the Daily DigestSubscribeSubscribe to the Daily DigestMust ReadZimbabwean agitator deported from Tanzania1 hr ago |180 ViewsZimbabwean national arrested in Khayelitsha1 hr ago |112 ViewsPush for unity among Ndebele Royal claimants1 hr ago |59 ViewsHerentals to play 3 home games behind closed doors1 hr ago |44 ViewsZimbabwe to give Zambia more water at Kariba1 hr ago |58 ViewsMatobo rocked by corrupt and dubious land grab1 hr ago |61 ViewsMnangagwa launches AI-powered smart silos in Mutare1 hr ago |26 ViewsNo justification for bread price increases1 hr ago |47 ViewsTeen girl raped twice by cousin during babysitting sleepover8 hrs ago |385 ViewsTeen remanded over blanket, shoe theft8 hrs ago |119 ViewsBulawayo hits Starlink capacity9 hrs ago |294 ViewsHerdsman jailed for sleeping with schoolgirl9 hrs ago |308 ViewsMandaza was left visibly shaken as Biti, Sikhala, Ngarivhume fled9 hrs ago |760 ViewsTelecel Zimbabwe enters voluntary corporate rescue9 hrs ago |163 ViewsZimbabwe warns foreign investors against labour law violations9 hrs ago |129 ViewsCourt dismisses Zinasu students’ appeal9 hrs ago |90 ViewsMPs Demand Relief for Elderly on Local Authority Charges Amid Lack of National Policy12 hrs ago |153 ViewsWrong decision to suspend ZETDC boss, a symptom of shallow thinking13 hrs ago |473 ViewsMPs Push for Service Charge Relief for Elderly Amid Lack of National Policy13 hrs ago |131 ViewsZETDC MD fired after SONA power outage22 hrs ago |3458 ViewsMliswa likens Tagwirei to Chamisa23 hrs ago |2238 ViewsHarare adopts a ‘Pay first, drink later’ strategy23 hrs ago |842 ViewsPolice foil launch of movement against Mnangagwa term extension23 hrs ago |858 ViewsParliament apologises to Mnangagwa23 hrs ago |688 ViewsMnangagwa the merchant of darkness23 hrs ago |1092 ViewsZimRights condemns arson attack on SAPES Trust23 hrs ago |225 ViewsMnangagwa praise singers lie for a living23 hrs ago |443 ViewsMPs slam peak-hour roadblocks, demand reform on spot fines24 hrs ago |855 ViewsPublic hospitals under fire for medication gaps24 hrs ago |301 ViewsToday’s Most ReadMandaza was left visibly shaken as Biti, Sikhala, Ngarivhume fled9 hrs ago |760 ViewsTeen girl raped twice by cousin during babysitting sleepover8 hrs ago |385 ViewsMliswa likens Tagwirei to Chamisa23 hrs ago |2238 ViewsZRP disciplines cops over viral video1 hr ago |238 ViewsZETDC MD fired after SONA power outage22 hrs ago |3458 ViewsHerdsman jailed for sleeping with schoolgirl9 hrs ago |308 ViewsBulawayo hits Starlink capacity9 hrs ago |294 ViewsZimbabwean agitator deported from Tanzania1 hr ago |180 ViewsMinister Mhona: No tollgate money?
