HARARE – Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) president Nqobile Magwizi has called for unity in the game, warning that “division will not take us forward; unity, patience and collective effort will” amid rising attacks and criticism from sections of the media. Magwizi, who was widely seen as the darling of the media and many football stakeholders during his election on January 25, is now facing growing criticism from some journalists and fans, just 10 months into his tenure. Speaking at the Warriors’ squad announcement for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, Magwizi urged all football stakeholders to put differences aside for the good of the sport.
“Division will not take us forward; unity, patience, and collective effort will. Zimbabwean football has risen before, and it will rise again. With unity, discipline and belief, we shall restore the pride of our game,” said Magwizi.
Addressing supporters directly, he added: “To our fans, we say: your passion is not taken for granted. We hear you. We respect you.
