The Kadoma by-law specifies 25 key offences, including parking outside designated areas or not within marked traffic lanes.
Mayor Nigel Ruzario said the crackdown was a direct response to growing frustrations from the community. “We have listened to the concerns of our residents, business owners, and commuters affected by the chaos on our roads,” Ruzaro said. “As our city grows, effective traffic management is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. “Enforcing our by-laws promotes a culture of responsible driving and parking, which will reduce accidents and improve everyone’s quality of life. ” Offenders will face strict penalties, including a US$20 clamping fee, a US$30 tow-away fee within the CBD, and a US$10 per kilometre charge for towing outside the CBD.
The mayor said the city aims to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and create a safer environment. “Motorists are strongly advised to familiarize themselves with the city’s parking and traffic regulations to avoid penalties,” he said. “We ask residents and visitors to report instances of reckless driving or parking. ” The council also warned motorists with outstanding parking tickets to settle their arrears by the end of the week to avoid clamping.
Additionally, a 15-minute payment window is enforced from the time a ticket is issued to prevent further penalties. “This firm action underscores Kadoma’s commitment to fostering an organized, safe, and sustainable urban community,” the mayor said. 🔗
