In an entertainment world where women often linger just offstage, playing second fiddle to their male counterparts, a bold new event is ready to rewrite the script. Launching on April 4, UNNAMED, brought to life by Pacers Experiential Events, aims to firmly plant women at the heart of Botswana’s creative spotlight. This groundbreaking event, showcasing an exclusively female roster of performers and creatives, was born from a clear mission: to carve out deliberate space for women within the local entertainment scene.

The organizers stress that this isn’t about sidelining men but about recalibrating the balance and shining a long-overdue spotlight on female talent. Speaking withWeekendlife, Lulama Molefe, Marketing and Business Development Officer at Pacers Experiential Events, explained that UNNAMED sprang from a pressing need to create intentional platforms for women in an industry where they’re too often overshadowed in headline and main-stage roles. “By curating an all-female lineup, we’re celebrating the depth, diversity, and sheer brilliance of women across music, from DJing and MCing to dance and live performance,” she said.

But UNNAMED is about more than entertainment. It carries a powerful message for young girls and aspiring artists: there’s a place for you here. Molefe emphasized that the event is designed not just as a concert but as a platform amplifying women’s voices, using art and performance to spark conversations and fuel positive social change.

Far from a one-off showcase, Pacers Experiential Events plans to make UNNAMED an annual celebration of female creativity in arts and culture. Still, the event tackles a stubborn gender gap in Botswana’s entertainment landscape. Women may be present, but they’re usually cast as supporting acts rather than headliners.

“Too often, female artists are visible but not positioned at the centre,” the organizers noted. “This initiative flips the narrative by creating a space where women don’t just participate, they lead, curate, perform, manage, and shape the entire experience.” To ensure a rich tapestry of talent and broad audience appeal, the lineup was meticulously selected to blend crowd favorites, established stars, and rising newcomers. The aim was clear: to showcase the full spectrum of female excellence across diverse creative styles.

“We wanted a dynamic representation of female brilliance,” the organizers explained. “The lineup balances artists with solid followings while opening doors for emerging talent to shine on a prominent stage.” UNNAMED’s impact reaches beyond the performers. Molefe highlighted the event’s commitment to empowering women throughout the entire creative chain, from DJs and MCs to vendors, creatives, and entrepreneurs.

“From female DJs and MCs to women-led branding, vendors, and interviews, we’re intentionally opening every link in the value chain to women.” Attendees on the day can expect an electric atmosphere pulsing with live performances, DJ sets, and vibrant entertainment, all delivered by an all-female cast. The event will also feature women-run business stalls and involvement from social organizations championing women’s empowerment. More than just a show, the program will weave in vital social themes.

MC segments will take a firm stand against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and underscore the importance of empowering the girl child. Adding to the experience, the organizers plan a distinct aesthetic vibe centered on a bold pink-themed branding, crafting what they call a “women’s world” atmosphere. There’s also buzz around collaborations with local female designers and creatives, who will use this platform to showcase their work.

As the date nears, excitement is mounting. Molefe shared that they anticipate a turnout north of 5,000, with early ticket sales already reflecting growing public enthusiasm. “The response so far has been encouraging and shows that the concept resonates strongly with audiences,” she said. UNNAMED isn’t just an event, it’s a movement, turning the spotlight where it’s long overdue: on the fierce, talented women shaping Botswana’s creative future.
