Rutendo Nyeve Victoria Falls ReporterTHE Victoria Falls Magistrates’ Court has remanded in custody fifteen foreign nationals from Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia, who were arrested this week for illegally entering the country without valid travel documents.The accused appeared before Magistrate Ms Linda Dzvene facing charges of contravening the Immigration Act, which relates to “Entering and Remaining in Zimbabwe without a permit.”The fifteen men were remanded to November 11, 2025, for further proceedings.Prosecuting, Mrs Portia Moyo outlined to the court that on 26 October 2025, along the Chisuma-Jambezi road near Vulindlela Shopping Centre, Chisuma, the accused persons unlawfully and intentionally entered Zimbabwe through Gorge 21, Chisuma, and remained in the country without the required documentation.The accused are: Abdihakin Abdulle Mohamud (37), Abdirahman Abdullahi Adbi (25), Mohmed Dahirkahiye (20), Nurdin Osman Hussein (21), Hasan Dadud Amhed (20), Abdul kadiz Mohamed, (34) Mustaf Osman Hussein (24), Mohamed Ahmed Omar (24), Libaan Mohamud (21), Abdulkadir Hussen Nunashe (26), Abdilkdi Hussen (27), Chernet Debebe Habebo (22), Tamirart Debebe Merga (19), Tewderos Tasfaye (29), and Abush Adamujbore (22).“Nine of the accused in this case are male adults residing in Mogadishu, Somalia and are unemployed.

On the 26th day of October 2025 the detectives from CID Victoria Falls received information to the effect that there are foreign nationals who have entered into Zimbabwe through an unauthorized point of entry at Chisuma gorge 21, Victoria Falls.“On the same day at around 1230pm the detectives made a follow up on the information received and intercepted a Toyota Hiace registration ADG 1502 which was being driven by Vusumuzi Sibanda and Nkululeko Mkhwananzi was sitting at the passenger seat coming from Chisuma heading to Victoria Falls,” said Mrs Moyo.She said searches were conducted from the passengers who were aboard the Toyota Hiace and it was established that the accused persons had no valid travelling documents.She said upon interview they admitted to be foreign nationals who entered into Zimbabwe from Zambia through an undesignated point of entry at Chisuma gorge 21 Victoria Falls and were heading to South Africa for greener pastures but with no valid traveling lling documents.Meanwhile, two locals have been charged with human trafficking.Vusumuzi Sibanda (23) and Nkululeko Mkwananzi (45), appeared before the same court charged with Contravening Section 3(1)(b)(i) of the Trafficking in Persons Act Chapter 9:25, for “Transferring or Receiving Foreigners.”Mrs Moyo alleged that on 26 October 2025, near Vulindlela Shopping Centre along Chisuma-Jambezi road, Sibanda and Mkwananzi, “one or both of them unlawfully and intentionally received and transferred six Ethiopian nationals, nine Somalians nationals and one Kenyan national knowing that they are likely to be trafficked in contravention of the said act.“On the 26th day of October 2025 the detectives from CID Victoria Falls received Information to the effect that there are foreign nationals who have entered into Zimbabwe through an unauthorised point of entry at Chisuma gorge 21, Victoria Falls.“On the same day at around 1230pm the detectives made a follow up on the Information received and intercepted a Toyota Hiace registration ADG 1502 which was being driven by Sibanda and Mkhwananzi was sitting at the passenger seat,” said Mrs Moyo.She said searches were conducted from the passengers who were aboard the Toyota Hiace and it was established that the fifteen accused persons had no valid travelling documents.It was also established that there were nine Somalians nationals, six Ethiopians nationals and one Kenyan National.“Eight Somalians had their passports but were not stamped by Immigration while one Kenyan had an invalid Emergency Travel Document which was not stamped by immigration.“Upon interview they admitted to be foreign nationals who entered into Zimbabwe from Zambia through an undesignated point of entry at Chisuma,” she said.Leave a ReplyCancel reply
